What I am learning from this plant.

Greg

I love my plant. Her name is Lil. She is a lily. The INSIDE GREEN plant diva, Sue Biely, encouraged me to propagate my plant a few weeks ago, but I was hesitant. Lil had just gone thru a beautiful blooming cycle and she seemed to be resting. I thought she needed some rest! Last weekend I noticed that she was looking like she wanted to begin more growth, and more blooms. I decided I needed to act fast! I got the extra can filled with soil and a spread newspaper on the dining room table. (Next time I'll do this on the deck.) Then I pulled Lil from her pot and, lo and behold, she had a stupendous root system that looked like it needed more room. I gently pulled those roots part to discover there were actually two plants there. While it felt like I was tearing Lil's roots asunder, it actually went pretty smoothly. I added water to the soil in the second can prior to planting it and cosying up those roots with more moist soil. The pictures tell the story. both Lil and Lil2 are doing fabulous! and Lil is even looking like she will bloom this week. SUCCESS! So don't be afraid of propagation! It's a good thing!
